How Often Should
I have my Window Washed?
We usually
recommend 2-3 times a year. There are basically 4
factors that will cause you to need your windows washed more
frequently:
-
Traffic:
The closer you live to a high traffic pattern the more
frequently you will need your windows washed due to the
increased dispersion of dust from the roads and vehicles.
-
Construction:
If you have construction of any kind within a close
proximity you will need a more frequent window washing
schedule.
-
Retail:
If you are a commercial property, especially one with retail
frontage, you should consider a weekly, bi-weekly, or
monthly window washing schedule.
-
Weather:
If the quarterly weather pattern has been excessively wet or
humid, your windows will probably retain more dust and be
more susceptible to organic growth on their surfaces.
How often do I
need to have the inside of my Windows Washed?
We recommend
that you have the inside of your windows washed at least
once a year to remove the bluish-grey film that builds up on
the glass surface due to the use of air condition. If
you have pets or kids, you might need to consider more
inside cleanings. [-up-]
Will I water get
under my siding if I have it Pressure Washed?
Vinyl siding is
engineered with holes in it's bottom edge to both let your
house "breathe" and to allow the nominal amount of water
that may get behind it during wet or stormy weather to drain
out. Having your siding pressure washed will not cause
any more water to go behind your siding than the amount left
there from a typical Spring storm. [-up-]
Tips for Washing
and Keeping your Windows Clean . . .
Tip # 1:
Always demand that painters and deck sealers either tape
all your glass surfaces off before applications, or they
clean any paint or sealer off immediately after such
applications.
Tip # 2:
Always wet the glass surface before using a razor blade
to remove any paint or sealer residue from your glass
surfaces. Failure to do so significantly increases
your risk of scratching the glass.
Tip # 3:
More is not always better! Use as little detergent
in your washing solution as possible. Most detergents
will tend to leave a filmy residue on the glass surface
which will cause streaking, as well as create a "clinging"
action for dust to your glass. [-up-]
